Hollywood has taken over Chipping Campden in the Cotswolds this week. Well, when I say Hollywood, it’s actually a production company who are filming a new Netflix Series in the Cotswolds.
Supernatural Detective Series
Lockwood and Co. is a 5-part supernatural and thriller book series written by Jonathan Stroud. The Netflix version will show some of the action filmed on the pavements of Chipping Campden. Some of the places you may recognise are, the Kings Arms Hotel, the Market Square Car Park and the inside the Old Police Station.
A monument has been erected in Chipping Campden’s Market Square Car Park. It’s so realistic, it made me question whether it had been there all along.
Some of the filming began back in July and significant changes have been made inside the Old Police Station as the production company have created a courtroom.
Lots of updates have been posted on the Campden Online Community website, including filming times and road closures.
Other Films and TV Series
Of course, this isn’t the first film or series to be filmed in and around Chipping Campden and it definitely won’t be the last. Imbd.com lists a plethora of films and tv series filmed in the Cotswolds and where Chipping Campden has played host – from Bridget Jones’s Diary to BBC TV series, Father Brown.
The picturesque and ‘oldy worldy’ feel about this special Cotswold town, lends itself to film crews from all over the world and that is because Chipping Campden provides a stunning backdrop. It’s another jewel in the Chipping Campden and Cotswold crown! Ironically, Netflix has chosen this picture postcard Cotswold town for a futuristic drama. Chipping Campden truly is a special place where where old and new worlds collide.
